Swim Lessons

Jackson at swim lessons with his class of girls. He was one of 2 who got "Penguin" as opposed to "Goldfish", and after the test was completed, and I pointed out how well he did, he said, "Yeah, I was lucky."
Taking his test to see his "level":

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Smoothies and Pink Sparkly Shoes; A Girl's Life:

Ready, Set, Go!

Jackson has posted these all over our house, as well as our neighbors' doors. Crazy boy:

Even though we'll be in Austin another year, it feels like this particular time of grad school is over. Our closest friends are moving on. We will miss them. Here are the Stokes, moving to Birmingham. Chuck, Betsy, Charlie, and Claire-Ellen:

Mary Clement with her cousin Cora:

These guys spent hours picking ripe figs, digging the flesh out, mashing it up, and mixing it with sugar. So the next day we made a fig tart. And um, other creations:

Cleaned up and with their own creations (fig tart in the middle):
Our climber:

Two Austin scenes, feeding the ducks and hearing local music on "the trail" with the Dwelles (Sarah and Jordan with kids Evangeline, Greta, Naomi and Levin). Jackson says, "Please can you tell them we saw a swan?" The Dwelles are moving out of the apts. too, though thankfully to a house here in Austin. Whew.

** Update years later - We ended up moving to KY later that summer, a 2-week offer, move turn-around.

Junish things

Our new bike contraption we bought for Harry off Craigslist. Notice how Harry is winking; this is his new automatic for pictures:Some dear neighbors moved to Utah today, and I was in charge of keeping the kids alive during the last frenzied pack-up. Because there were so many of them, I had them watch The Fox and The Hound to keep them all in one place. Look how looooooooooooong our new couch is (and notice Grandad's tiger on the left; Matthew is over the moon that it's up in our living room):
And Sarah was here this week, which was a blessing times 50. She took the kids to swim lessons every day, got our van, a bike, and our stroller fixed, enabled many, many errands on my part, and to top it all off found the time to make this gorgeous quiche while teaching the boys how to make a pie crust. Mother-in-law of the year is she:

To Here

The boys like to make "books", which involves drawing pictures, stapling them together, and having me write down what they say. They usually involve monsters. Jackson dedicated this one "TO HERE", which is how he spells Harry. I captured HERE's new skill, winking. . .
Mary Clement, not wanting to be left out, is insisting, "SEE! SEE!" She sees her own picture and announces "BABY!" (Baby and Mine are two very frequent words around here). Mama got her a Bitty Baby for her birthday and I can't wait to give it to her.
