Forest Family

We went to a carnival tonight at Laurel & Clint's church.

First of all, this is Laurel in all her chicken glory. This costume has belonged to her church, Hope Chapel, for years and when they were throwing it out recently, Clint salvaged it, having remembered seeing it for the first time when he was in the 5th grade. That's how old this thing is; Clint's 31 (I think). Laurel wore it all day at her job as teller at Prosperity Bank.
And here's our owl and mushroom. Bill, the mushroom was in honor of you, and of course, in theme with our Family of the Forest:
Here is our mushroom caught on camera biting his brother owl:
This one I include to show Matthew and myself as Ents. The idea was to have an owl perching in our branches and a mushroom growing at our trunks: I realize now that I look more like a weeping willow hippy Ent, but oh well. :)

Because I haven't posted in a while...

With all my pesky MFA stuff, I haven't posted in a while. Here are a few shots to keep you updated on life with the Phoenix Wrights.

Last weekend, Benjamin's school had their annual Halloween carnival. Benjamin actually got into it this year and played games. His favorite by far was the bounce house. He keeps asking "When are we going back to my party?"

Here is the table from David and Lynn's engagement party. I should've designated a photographer because, alas, this is the only shot I have.

Benjamin after a spin in his new ride... actually, Percy's porche.

Don't you wish you had a bison fort?

Here are a couple of Jackson's favorite pastimes.

"When I was a little strong man I used to play basketball."

"This is my bison fort. It’s your bison fort too, Daddy. We can play in it. Also, we can sleep and dig in it. It’s delicate. It’s a grocery store."

Yet another reason to pray for us

From October 3's New York Times
The average student takes 8.2 years to get a Ph.D.; in education, that figure surpasses 13 years. Fifty percent of students drop out along
the way, with dissertations the major stumbling block. At
commencement, the typical doctoral holder is 33, an age when peers are well along in their professions, and 12 percent of graduates are saddled with more than $50,000 in debt.

The Funny Face

A few days ago Jackson showed us his "funny face." We couldn't stop laughing--what a subtle, wry wit our boy is! We've been trying, unsuccessfully, to capture the funny face on film, but the other night at the Budziszewskis', one of our friends with a doozy camera got it. JRW was actually in quite a posing mood. After several different shots on the ottoman, he moved to the armchair for another series. At any rate, be sure to click on the enlarged image. And note the hands--pure genius!
