Tough Life

She doesn't have a baby doll, so she makes do with what she's got.

IronMan,
Or a fridge magnet (see how she's brushing her hair):

  1. Okay, so, one kind blog reading friend has already offered to buy this girl a doll. Let me explain: The reason she doesn't have one is b/c of a picky mother. B/c MC is so attached to her blanket (and me!) I think she'll get attached to a baby doll, so I want it to be one that I like and enjoy. So many dolls are just unpleasant, or outright ugly, so I've been paying attention to dolls I like. BUT (dear grandmothers, in particular), IF you feel so inclined, her 2nd bday is coming up and you know she'd love a doll! But consult this picky mama first! ;)

  2. Does Bitty Baby meet your qualifications? We have one of those (compliments of Meme, of course) and a couple of Madame Alexanders that are all pretty easy on the eyes, I'd say. I do hear what you're saying about ugly dolls, though. Makes me think of Sara in "Little Princess" buying Emily. One place to check out for quality dolls at reasonable prices is Tuesday Morning, if you have one of those near you...

(Loved this post, BTW. and love YOU!)

  3. Bitty Baby and Madame Alexanders are darling but so pricey! That's my only hesitation with those. I'll keep Tuesday Morning in mind.

  4. Actually, not crazy about Madame Alexanders (a friend has one - maybe it's older? and it's cute, but the ones on their site are all "dolled up"!). But I'm all about Bitty Baby.

  5. Grace got a Corolle doll for her bday and she carries it with her everywhere. (She has a "babipouce" but a "Calin" has hair if MC likes that.) The dolls are vanilla scented. :)

  6. What about the doll I got her? You think it might be too fragile right now?

  7. Bethany, I've let her play with it some, but she's so rough on it that at this point it needs to be a display piece. She's too little to treat it well - its legs and arms will quickly come off! Also her hair keeps getting matted with stuff. So I give her little bits of time with it. I do love that doll, though! And so does she. She just needs a tough stuff doll.
