Benjamin's 1st Camping Trip

We finally bit the bullet this weekend and did the thing we've been simultaneously anticipating and dreading for years... we took Benjamin tent-camping. Our fears were based on the suspicion that our high-energy child would bounce off the walls of a tent into the wee hours of the night. Fortunately for all, they were unfounded. We drove up to Lynx Lake, which is outside of Prescott, AZ, and, at 5,000 feet, MUCH cooler than Phoenix right now. Benjamin loved playing in the lake and he also got to experience his first campfire and first s'more. In fact, since this trip was so successful, and given B's track record with hiking, we've decided that family backpacking is soon to follow!

Strategically choosing rocks to throw in the lake--a favorite activity.

Helping Daddy set up the tent.
Get in here, guys! This is awesome!!!

Benjamin couldn't resist playing in the firepit when it was cool. His hands looked like this much of the time.

What is this glorious concoction?

I climbed it!

  1. How fantastic! Ruthie and I have had the same concerns with the camping thing, which is why Jackson has yet to go. But way to go BEN-HA-MEEN! Man of the Wild, Wild Man, unlike his father, who is merely Mild and Wan (Too harsh, J? Didn't mean to pull out the big guns.) But at any rate, three cheers for J and Em and Ben!
